Set amidst the Selkirk Mountain Range, Ainsworth Hot Springs is the oldest settlement alongside the pristine Kootenay Lake. Its ‘healing waters’ have been soothing aches and pains since the early 1800s, when it was first discovered by the Kutenai Indians. The Mermaid Lodge is an Historical Landmark in that it was built by the renowned Sheriff Henry Anderson in 1891. It was also the first wood-framed building built in Ainsworth and is the oldest building on the Kootenay Lake still in operation to this date. The newer motel kitchenette complex faces the frontage of this famous Lodge and their combination provides you with a variety of accommodation choices.

Kootenay Lake, at 97 miles long, is the longest inland lake in British Columbia. It is a trophy fishing lake, providing year-round fishing of the famous Gerrard Rainbow, Dolly-Varden, Kokanee Salmon, and Sturgeon, to name a few. The beach is a short 3 minute walk across the road from the Motel, offering crystal clear waters for summer swimming and boating fun.

Many other activities await you, such as hiking, skiing, and kayaking.

We now offer satellite wireless high speed internet at very reasonable rates.
