Tour Facts

Overview

Qingdao 1 Day Tour - Qingdao, China Historic Qingdao 1 Day:

(we will take into account the visitor's preferences when determining the time to spend at one location, below for reference only)

Highlights :

German colonial influences have left a heavy stamp on Qingdao's modern history. First thing on the tour, our guide will take you to all the major sites from that era. Zhanqiao Pier: built by the Qings in 1891 as a naval pier, it was transferred to the colonial administration in 1897 and was expanded in the same year to accomodate increasing traffic. The Chinese pavilion on the tip of the pier has apparently been spared during the expansion.

Xiaoqingdao Park (Small Qingdao Island Park) is home to the German-built octagonal white-marble lighthouse that is still in operation today.

Qingdao Fort is a permanent fort complex the Germans spent 6 years and over 1.85 million marks building. However a large part of the construction was blown up by the colonists themselves as they made a hasty retreat in the face of the coming Japanese army. The remaining portion still has the original cannons mounted and preserved for its historic significance.

After a hearty lunch, we'll head out to the Qingdao beer museum and get a taste of Tsingtao beer, possibly the best brewer in the country since 1903. We will wrap up the tour with a visit to the TV tower and Qingdao Museum.

Our guide will see you off at the airport.
