General Information about Port-au-Prince

Port-au-Prince which is the capital city of Haiti has been inhabited since the 15th century and is home to approximately three million people. Port-au-Prince which has been the capital of Haiti since 1804 and was built on the former colony of Saint-Domingue.

Be sure to visit the Hotel Oloffson which is a gingerbread mansion which was built back in the 19th century. A trip to the Cathedrale de Port-au-Prince will not easily be forgotten with its Neo-Romantic architecture. Port-au-Prince's Musee Nationale museum is a must visit destination, which is one of the best places to learn about the city's history with a variety of exhibitions.

The best way to get there is by plain with many airlines flying into the Toussaint Louverture International Airport. Don't leave Port-au-Prince without sampling some of the city's Cremas which a tasty alcoholic drink of coconut and vanilla.
