General Information about Bishkek

Bishkek which is the capital city of Kyrgyzstan is situated within the Chui Valley near the Tien Shan mountains. Bishkek which has been inhabited since 1878 was originally known as Frunze is home to approximately 900,000. Bishkek features a variety of museums that are well worth visiting as well as a wide range of outdoor activities.

Near Bishkek's town city which is known as Chui Avenue and it is the city's centre where you will find many of Bishkek's attractions. Here you will find the State Museum of Applied Arts, the State Historical Museum, and the well the famous statue of Ivan Panfilov who was a Hero of the Soviet Union. Be sure to visit the Osh Bazaar where you will find many local delicacy's.

Visiting Bishkek would not be complete without experiencing the city's night life, however as you are in a foreign country care should always be taken when out in the evenings. Getting to Bishkek is easy with the Bishkek Manas Airport being located just half an hour from the city.
