The Amarbayasgalant Khiid is the most important monastry in Mongolia and was built in 1737 and dedicated to Zanabazar one of the greatest Mongolian Buddists. Sadly communists destroyed 10 of it's 37 temples and statues in the 1930's. Winters are long in Mongolia lasting from November through to April with January being the coolest month with temperatures going as low as -30 degrees. Spring is short lived lasting for only two months, and is followed by a hot summer in July lasting until September. July is the warmest month to visit with temperatures rising as high as 40 degrees. The average annual temperature for Mongolia sits around 20 degrees with as many as 250 days of sunshine each year. There are approximately 315 districts in Mongolia. The highest peak in Mongolia is Nayramadlin Orgil rises to over 4,347 metres and is also known as Huyten Orgil. The lowest peak is Hoh Nuur at just 518 metres. EconomyLearn About The Economy In MongoliaThe agricultural industry is one of the most important contributors to the economy in Mongolia. The agricultural industry brings in over 21 percent of the economy while employing over 40 percent of the population. Mongolia is also rich in natural resources including large amounts of mineral deposits as well as copper, coal, tin, and gold contributing to the growing industry sector. The unemployment rate sits at a low of three percent while over 30 percent of the population are living below the poverty line. The official currency of Mongolia is the Togrog.
