General Information about Yaren

Yaren which is the largest city of Nauru is situated on the south of the island and is home to just over four thousand people. There is no real capital in Nauru and Yaren is often referred to as the main city, however this is not the case.

Even though Yaren is not the capital of Nauru there are still plenty of reasons to visit this charming town. Yaren boasts a wide variety of beautiful sandy beaches as well as some of the best on the entire island. There is much to do such as scuba diving as well as many water activities. Also if you are a keen fisher then Yaren is the place to be with some popular deep sea fishing locations.

Yaren is also a historical town and while you are there be sure to visit some of the souvenir's left over from World War II. English is spoken freely in Yaren although you will often hear the native Nauruan language being spoken.
