Known as 'The Rum Cathedral', the Bacardi Rum factory was built in Puerto Rico in 1936. Tours of the factory are free and include a trolley ride through the distillery and bottling plant, a museum and a rum cocktail. The highest point of Puerto Rico is known as Cerro De Punta and referred to as Cerro Puntita. Cerro de Punta can be found at Jayuya which is in the centre of Puerto Rico, along the range of Cordillera Central and measures to just over 1,338 metres high. Found along the north coast of Puerto Rico is Rio de la Plata which is the longest river of the island group and originates in the town of Cayey which is set on the Central Mountain range which rises to almost 800 metres. Rio de la Plata flows for over 97 kilometres and almost stretches across the entire island.The lowest point of Puerto Rico is the Caribbean Sea at sea level. EconomyLearn About The Economy Of Puerto RicoTraditionaly the production of sugar was the main source of economy of the agricultural industry for Puerto Rico but has since been taken over by dairy production and livestock. The tourism industry is also a huge support to the economy with over five million tourists visiting the island in 2004. The industry sector contributes greatly to the economy with the main trades being production of pharmaceuticals, electronics, apparel, and food products. The most important exports of Puerto Rico are chemicals, electronics, canned tuna, rum, beverage concentrates and medical equipment. The official currency of Puerto Rico is the US Dollar.
