General Information about Taipei

The capital of Taiwan is situated in northern Taiwan within the Taipei basin along the Xindian River and the Danshui River. Taipei is home to over 22,858,870 people and is an extremely fast paced city. Taipei features a wide range of museums, temples and parks. You will also find the world's tallest skyscraper of Taipei 101 at 449 metres.

If its shopping your interested in then Taipei has it covered with many retailers remaining open past midnight. The Shilin Night Market is the most popular shopping destination with its colourful displays. Set along the Keelung River this market has been running since 1909 and is also a great place to stop for a meal at one of the many food vendors.

Be sure to stop in at the National Palace Museum which is filled with many exhibitions of Chinese historical artefacts. Not to be missed is a trip to the Lonshan Temple which has been apart of the city since 1738 but has been rebuilt several times throughout history.

Getting there is easy with the international airport being located just 40 kilometres out of the city. There are many places to eat out while you are at Taipei with a large variety of traditional dishes.
