Allentown

General Information about Allentown

First inhabited in 1762 and ideally set along the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania is the city of Allentown who is home to over 106,600 residents. Set at an elevation of 338 feet, Allentown is a city within Lehigh County and is just under nine miles away from the city of Bethlehem.

There is much to see and do while you are visiting Allentown with a variety of museums, historical monuments, festivals and parks. Allentown most popular theme park is the Dorney park & Wildwater Kingdom which originally opened back in 1884.

Be sure to visit the Allentown Art Museum which was built in 1934 and is one of the city's most important art galleries with over 13,000 artefacts.

The Eighth Street Bridge which is now known as the Albertus L. Meyers Bridge is a historical monument that would be impossible to miss. Officially opened in 1913 this remarkable structure was the highest and longest concrete bridge in the world at the time. The Albertus L. Meyers Bridge stretches for 2,650 feet and is 138 feet high.

Getting to Allenstown is easy with regular flights landing at the Lehigh Valley International Airport which is just three miles away from the city. You can also get to Allenstown via rail, bus or car.
