The other most commonly followed religion is Roman Catholic. 2% of the population are Mormons, 1% are Muslim and another 1% are Jewish. The capital city of the United States is Washington D.C. New York is the largest city.
There are many things to do in the United States including visiting Disneyland in Los Angeles, Disneyworlde in Florida, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the Statue of Liberty in New York and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Mount Rushmore is one of the United States most famous and easily recognised landmark. Here the faces of former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt have been carved into the white rock and appear to be emerging out of the mountain. America is about half the size of Russia and slightly larger than China with over fifty states as well as the District of Columbia. The coastline of the United States extends for over 19,924 kilometres. The terrain of America is very diverse with a vast central plain, mountainous in the west with low mountains in the east. In Alaska, America's largest state in land area the terrain is rugged mountainous with broad river valleys. While in Hawaii the terrain is of volcanic origin. The highest point in America is Mount McKinley which rises to over 6,194 metres which can be found in Alaska. Whereas the lowest point in the United States is known as the Death Valley and is 86 metres below sea level. Death Valley can be found in California and Nevada and runs north south between the Amargosa Range to the east and the Panamint Range in the west. The Death Valley National Park covers an area of 7,800 square kilometres. A popular place to visit is the Grand Canyon's which can be found in Arizona and is thought by many to be one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the world. The Grand Canyon is over one mile deep and is over 350 kilometres long in some parts. The economy is more market focused with most private individuals and business firms making most of the decisions. Over 30 percent of the population are employed in managerial and professional positions with 28 percent working in technical, sales and administrative support positions. The main industries of the United States are petroleum, steel, motor vehcicles, aerospace, telecommunicatons, chemicals, electronics, food processing, consumer goods, lumber and mining.
