Situated on Wallis Island, Mata-Utu is the capital of the island group and can be found within the Hakake District. The island of Wallis which is sometimes referred to as Uvea, features an airport so getting to Mata-Utu is easy.

While you are visiting Mata-Utu it would be impossible to not notice the towns famous cathedral. The Mata-Utu Cathedral which was built by carved blocks of the coral is a national monument of France and is one of the main features of the town.

Mata-Utu is home to over 1,200 people and the main language spoken is French.
